In Spanish, decimals use commas while in English they use periods. When writing decimals, the commas or periods are used to separate the decimal places in numbers like tenths, hundredths and thousandths. Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division can be performed with decimal numbers. For division problems, the decimal is moved right if dividing a decimal number by 10, 100, 1000 and so on to clear the decimal places or the decimal numbers are multiplied by appropriate powers of 10 to make the divisor a whole number.
